Linus
I am not sure where Linus grew up, with whom, or how. I do know that one night in the dead of winter he decided to homestead on the porch of an old house. Inside the home lived a couple with two children, ages 4 and 6. Both the man and woman were here from Africa and getting post doctorate degrees at the University of Memphis. After a night or two of sleeping on a blanket on the front porch, the family brought him in. The temperature was dropping and they feared for his safety. Linus lived with this family for six weeks. He was awesome with the children. Dad taught Linus to sit, crate trained him, and was working on some other commands. Dad and Mom said Linus had changed their perception of pit bull type dogs. The family was returning to Africa and were running out of time to find Linus a home. They advertised him on craigslist but the calls they got were not good homes for Linus. The couple decided that rather than risk Linus getting into bad hands, they would surrender him to the shelter.
I went over to meet Linus and make pictures. I did not intend to take him into my rescue because I was full. However, he was so friendly and well-socialized that I could not let him go to the shelter. I brought him home and he has been in foster care at my home since that day. Linus is approximately a year old. He is around 40 lbs. He has the most beautiful coat. He has been friendly to all of the dogs he has met. He is a very sweet boy. Linus needs an active family who will give him plenty of exercise. He would be the best jogging or running partner in Shelby County.
